My facination with wild life is never ending. They never cease to amaze me and I believe we could all learn something from them. Wild or domesticated, we all have our place in this world and it should be respected. My pets are like family to me. I enjoy being around them and they seem to enjoy being around me too. Win Win situation! I found this picture and I wanted to share it with you. Take care, Cathy

December 2012 - Puppy Mill Rescue - Over 60 Dogs Saved - North Shore Animal League America

Hello Everyone, Happy Holidays!

Christmas is very close now and if you were entertaining the thought of giving someone a cat or dog, please think about the rescues in shelters. These animals need our love and support and they give so much back. Some of these so called puppy mills are a disgrace, animals forced to live in cramped and unsanitary conditions.
A pet is a wonderful gift to give anyone in your family and even friends. But please be sure that you know that will be taken good care of. It is a big responsibility and should not be taken lightly. The rewards are great! Animals can be wonderful companions. Thank God for people like North Shore Animal League America. This is a no kill shelter, so please support them if you can. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and for stopping by my blog. Happy Holidays to you and yours, Cathy

7 environmental principles

It is so important that we do these things now and teach our children, that recycling, reducing should be a way of life. It just makes good sense to teach our children to reuse
items when you can. The whole family should be involved helping to keep the planet sustainable. Our children and grandchildren  are counting on us to show them the way.
It would be a pleasure to hear your comments, thanks for stopping by my blog, Cathy

Russian fishermen catch Mermaid??? alien??? and eat it

Village residents from the Rostov region of Russia caught a weird creature two weeks ago after a strong storm in the Sea of Azov. The shark-looking creature was producing strange squeaky sounds. The fishermen originally believed that they had caught an alien and decided to film the monster with the help of a cell phone camera. The footage clearly shows the creatures' head, body and long tail. The bizarre catch was weighing almost 100 kilograms, the Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.
However, ufologists and scientists were greatly disappointed when they found out that the fishermen had eaten the monster. They said that they were not scared of the creature so they decided to use it as food. One of the men said that it was the most delicious dish he had ever eaten.
Chairman of the Anomalous Phenomena Service, Andrei Gorodovoi, stated that the creature, which he could see on the short video, was an anomalous being. However, it could hardly be described as an extraterrestrial form of life, he added. Gorodovoi rejected the version about mermaids too. "There are many legends about mermaids living in the Sea of Azov. Nevertheless, specialists of the Service for Anomalous Phenomena have never confirmed those fairytales. On the other hand, we do not deny the possibility of other forms of life in the Sea of Azov," the ufologist sad.
A spokesman for the Rostov-based zoo, Alexander Lipkovich, contacted local ichthyologists and asked their opinion about the Azov alien. "They said that the fish bears resemblance to a sturgeon. It was an extremely interesting individual. I have never seen anything like this before in my whole life," the specialist said.

A Fish With a See-Through Head and Rotating Eyes

For the first time, a large Pacific barreleye fish - complete with transparent head - has been caught on film by scientists using remotely operated vehicles at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. The deep-sea fish's tubular eyes pivot under a clear dome.

MEAN KITTY - Cat Trapping

What is Trap-Neuter-Return?

This video below has a lot of great answers for helping these feral cats aka stray cats. It's my belief that the trap, neuter, return system has been proven to work. This is a great organization and they are really making a big difference. Please help support them if you can. Sometimes just passing this information along can be a big help. Thanks Cathy

Cathy's Feral Cat Community

I love and respect all animals. Some can use our help and others would be better off without us. One of my projects this winter is to help and feed some feral cats in my neighborhood. There are so many that I see them everywhere! So far I have only been able to approach a few of these felines because of their wild nature. So many are too skiddish and appear afraid to approach humans and I can't say I really blame them. My neighborhood is very dog friendly neighborhood and most people have at least one or two canines if not more. There are brambles around the neighborhood and I am guessing that is where the feral cats are staying for now. My goal is to help provide some shelters for the long winter coming up. I have found some unique ideas on youtube as to how to build some shelters. I would love to hear any ideas you may have and I will continue to search for better ways to protect our neighborhood feral cat population. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Cathy
